Sarracenia flava var. rubricorpora
Sarracenia flava var. rubricorpora
Sarracenia are North American pitcher plants native to the wetlands of the eastern United States. One particularly striking variety is Sarracenia flava var. rubricorpora, known for its deep red pitcher (or "tube") and contrasting bright green lid. It’s considered one of the most beautiful of the six S. flava varieties and is also a vigorous grower.
You will receive a division from a mature rhizome, with at least one active growth point. Please note that the pitchers (traps) may be trimmed to accommodate shipping and the plant will be sent bare root.
Sarracenia make excellent companions to Venus flytraps, as both species naturally occur together in the wild. Like flytraps, they require a cold winter dormancy to store energy for the following growing season. Don’t be alarmed if the plant begins to wither as temperatures drop—this is completely natural.
During dormancy, place the plant in an unheated garage or refrigerator. Bring it back outdoors in spring once the risk of frost has passed.
